Numerous Treatment Options Available
There are a wide range of treatment options available for someone looking to improve aging and wrinkled skin. With the variety of options and sometimes conflicting information available, it is very hard for anyone to know which treatment is right for them. Here is a quick run-through of the options available. It's impossible to know what is right for you without a consultation with an expert physician, but this list is meant to give you a rough outline of some of the options:
Laser Treatments Laser skin rejuvenation can be great for age & brown spots, spider veins on the face, redness and discoloration, wrinkles and fine lines, as well as some sagging. There are a wide range of laser options from non-ablative therapies to fractional devices to full facial resurfacing. An expert can review the options and let you know what's best in your particular case.
"Spa" Treatments
These are the quick, non-invasive treatments often offered as 'lunch-time' procedures in spas and by aestheticians. These may be microdermabrasion or modest chemical peels. These can be helpful for some freshening up of the skin's appearance; however they do not address more serious age-related rejuvenation needs.
Injectable Treatments
These may be Botox® for lines of movement, or Restylane® or Juvederm® for deeper wrinkles. This class of rejuvenation therapy involves a treatment which is injected into the skin to address lines on the face. There is a whole class of injectable fillers which are used to treat the face. To learn more about these, read our Injectable Fillers section.
First Steps
Researching your condition and understanding it is the first step. However no matter how much research you do, it is impossible for a patient to know exactly which wrinkle treatment is right for their condition without first consulting an experienced physician.
A Consultation is the Best Course of Action
The best course of action is to seek out a physician with access to a wide range of treatment options and have a consultation. At the consultation the physician can determine which treatment, or combinations of treatments, may be ideal in your case. Having access to a number of treatment choices gives the physician the freedom to choose between modalities and makes it more likely you will be satisfied by your results.
